JPA Health is seeking a Senior Vice President, Earned Media to lead and grow our media team and support a broad range of client work and new business needs. This person will lead media strategy and work on core accounts spanning pharma, biotech and public health. The ideal candidate has a passion for the work, is adept at media storytelling, and provides compelling insights that result in award-winning campaigns. The successful candidate for the role is a collaborative communicator with a progressive and deep understanding of the integrated landscape of traditional and new media.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted media advisor and counselor for top clients, addressing client issues thoughtfully and effectively.
- Provide proactive and reactive senior strategic media counsel to clients, including issues and crisis management.
- Understand and stay abreast of the broader healthcare media landscape and issues facing the industry.
- Build media relationships that will benefit the media team and our clients.
- Identify new growth opportunities for media work based on insights into the client and industry.
- Partner with Research & Insights team to ensure media strategies, contact lists and measurement reports are industry-leading andinformed by data.
- Provide input on written media materials and media lists.
- Advise on thought leadership programs, op-eds, sponsored content.
- Conduct ongoing media pitching, including coordinating interview requests and providing status and results reports.
- Build, lead and manage a high-performing media team; effectively manage staff utilization.
- Mentor, coach and support junior account staff, ensuring constant development of their skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 12-15+ years of related professional (agency or in-house) experience.
- Must have a strong background in media relations, with pharmaceutical/biotech media relations experience strongly preferred.
- Experience leading media relations teams and driving coverage across portfolio clients with multiple brands.
- Demonstrated excellence in media relations and crisis management in a fast-paced environment.
- Depth in traditional and digital media.
- Experience consulting C-suite executives, including media interview and message coaching.
- Experience as a media lead in new business pitches.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills, experience developing and delivering external presentations.
- A strong communicator, writer, and strategically oriented.
- Ability to demonstrate maturity, levelheadedness, and shrewdness.
