Vice President, Public Health

JPA is currently searching for a Vice President to join our collaborative and team-oriented environment in the D.C. office.
The successful candidate for this role is a strategist and execution lead who can deliver against the growing opportunities in the health communications space. You will have the opportunity for deep strategic thinking for the practice as well as for clients, attempting to solve complex questions that sit at the intersection of social, behavioral, economic, institutional, access, and medical challenges. This position requires an exceptional communicator and relationship builderwho thrives in leading forward-thinking conversations that support unique partnerships to improve the public’s health and achieve health equity.
Responsibilities
- Act as a senior, strategic counselor for nonprofit clients in all areas of integrated health communications, particularly organizations focused on community-based outreach, multicultural communications, and health equity.
- Develop and present plans for integrated communications campaigns that reach diverse stakeholders including internal and external audiences such as health professionals, advocacy groups, policy influencers and consumers, including those who are medically underserved.
- Play a pivotal role in leading many of the day-to-day activities for health communications programs, including working with a variety of team members to help oversee projects and clients, and contribute to new business proposals and opportunities.
- Own client relationships and development of results-focused PR, marketing and advocacy strategies/programs, and identify opportunities to build client visibility in its target business communities that align with their overall business goals.
- Shape, direct and manage the execution of PR, marketing and advocacy programs and campaigns, thought-leadership, data communications, patient programs, new program launches, policy programs, events and other initiatives—with a focus on community-based outreach and health equity.
- Demonstrate a robust understanding of the roles and metrics of communication channels, especially digital, and have an ability to lead integrated efforts.
- Build partnerships and relationships with top-tier media contacts, influencers, and industry leaders on a local, regional, and national level.
- Manage account teams in the execution of integrated health communications programs and assume accountability for meeting all program deliverables.
- Establish and drive new business pipeline by identifying and leveraging new agency revenue opportunities for organic growth, as well as playing a leadership role on new business leads and RFPs.
- Support the growth of JPA’s health equity expertise and offerings through business development and marketing efforts, and by leveraging the deep expertise that currently exists within our public health and life sciences practices.
- Collaborate and partner with senior team members at JPA on new business, client programs and agency-wide initiatives.
Qualifications
- Prior agency experience: (7 – 10 years).
- Health equity communications and/or multicultural marketing experience.
- Proven media, advocacy relations, PR, strategy and creative marketing skills.
- Experience with health equity and/or community-based programs, including practiced experience communicating with specific cultural audience groups through developing messaging, partnerships and outreach programs to authentically and effectually engage communities.
- Experience working with multicultural teams.
- Understanding of the changing healthcare environment.
- Public policy experience a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, flexibility and professional manner.
- Ability to take initiative, manage multiple tasks, and work both independently and as a team.
- Be detail oriented, demonstrate critical thinking, and possess a passion for healthcare communications
