WASHINGTON, D.C., September 8, 2009 — Jones Public Affairs, Inc. announced today the appointment of Berna Diehl as senior vice president in its healthcare practice. Diehl brings to the agency over thirteen years of communications experience, with a special focus on women’s health, oncology and disease state education. She will be responsible for leading several of the agency’s clients, including the American College of Nurse-Midwives, the Coalition for Patients’ Rights™ and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Prior to joining Jones Public Affairs, Diehl worked for Edelman’s health practice in Washington, D.C., where she developed and implemented a number of strategic communications programs. She has also served as the advocacy communications manager for the American Heart Association, and began her career at the agency of Capitoline/Manning, Selvage & Lee. Most recently, Diehl served as a public relations consultant and the volunteer communications director for the International Cesarean Awareness Network, where she aimed to position the organization as a key resource on maternity care issues.

The firm has recently relocated to a new office on prestigious K Street in Washington, D.C. The new location reflects the agency’s plan to continue its expansion and broaden the wide-range of capabilities offered to non-profit, pharmaceutical and government clients. Additionally, the firm announced the promotion of Jennifer Rodriguez (nee Weissblum) to vice president. Rodriguez has been with Jones Public Affairs since 2007, and directs the agency’s work with clients such as The Wellness Community, Prostate Conditions Education Council and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. Her specialties include advocacy communications, consumer education and product support and launch, both within the U.S. and internationally.
